Virginia Procurement – Get SWAM or Micro Business Certified
We can help you get certified as a Small, Women or Minority-Owned Business (SWAM) and if you qualify, you can certify as a Micro Business.
SWAM Qualification with SBSD
In order to qualify as a Small, Women- or Minority-owned (SWAM) or Micro Business, your business must be certified by the Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD). These certifications are free and can be completed online at http://www.sbsd.virginia.gov/SWaMSearchSub.html.
Qualification Criteria for SWAM and Micro Business:
- SWAM – Your company qualifies if you have 250 employees or less OR less than $10M in revenues averaged over 3 years
- Micro Business – Your company qualifies if you have must have no more than 25 employees AND less than $3M in revenues averaged over 3 years
Service Disabled Veteran Owned Companies
As of June 2009, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Company can obtain a designation as an SDVOB on their SWAM certification. Veterans wishing to apply for SDVOB status must first seek eligibility certification from the Department of Veteran Services by calling (540) 857-7101 or by printing the SDVOB application available on the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs Website. Veterans can apply for the SWAM status before or after obtaining eligibility certification from DVS. Both services are available at no charge.
