Economic Development at the Crater PDC

Business growth, job creation, and long-term prosperity

Supporting Growth for Businesses, Entrepreneurs, and Residents Alike

Crater PDC’s economic development department aims to support our localities in crafting economic environments where employees, employers, and businesses can thrive. As the federally designated Economic Development District (EDD), Crater is responsible for developing our region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which guides our work. We also provide grants and technical assistance as needed, and serve as a resource for various types of regional economic data.

Our Economic Development Mission

To support local investment into our region that buoys opportunities for workers, attracts and retains employers, and allows businesses to grow in a way that is both prosperous and sustainable.

Crater CEDS & The Economic Development District

The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy serves as a guiding document for long-term economic planning in the Crater region. Developed through regional collaboration and ongoing analysis, it establishes shared priorities, identifies opportunities for investment, and provides a framework for aligning projects, funding, and partnerships to support sustainable economic growth across the district.

The Economic Development Department & Impact

Crater’s Economic Development staff draw on a wealth of knowledge of Virginia public policy and regional infrastructure to lead internal projects, and participate in external planning processes to support economic development in the Crater region. Staff leverage relationships with state organizations and local leaders to convene stakeholders in the interest of pursuing the economic goals of our member localities.
