Crater Economic Development District
Coordinating resources to support recovery, resilience, and growth.
What is an Economic Development District?
Economic Development Districts (EDDs) are multi-jurisdictional entities, commonly composed of multiple counties. They help lead the locally-based, regionally driven economic development planning process that leverages the involvement of the public, private and non-profit sectors to establish a strategic blueprint (i.e., an economic development roadmap) for regional collaboration. This strategic blueprint is known as the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
In 1985, the Crater Planning District Commission was formally designated as an Economic Development District by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The Economic Development Administration provides grants for infrastructure development, local capacity building, and business development; to help communities in economically distressed areas alleviate conditions of substantial and persistent unemployment and underemployment.
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
The Crater Economic Development District (EDD) has developed and maintains a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS). The CEDS is the result of a planning process designed to help support the economic growth within the Crater region. During its November 9th, 2023 meeting, the Executive Committee of the Crater Planning District Commission formally adopted the 2023 – 2028 Crater CEDS Document, which includes the Project Priority Listing.
